János Szarvady's father, grandfather, and great-grandfather were hairdressers, and even his daughter and grandson are hairdressers.
This is a real cross-section of hairdressing, in the middle of which you will find old János's scissors clicking.
The film records those hair styles that János Szarvady created on a day.
Director’s Statement:
Nine Cuts is pure cinema as it was one hundred years ago in the days of Lumiere's. It is documentary about an old hairdresser man, using no cinematic techniques like editing, dramatics, sound effects, etc., only filming a day-in-life of János Szarvady as long as the negative runs out of the camera.
