E-mail Nyomtatás

European film makers and moviegoers will meet for the first time in Les Arcs for a week between 5-12 December. István Szabó will be president of the jury at the film contest, which is organized in the French Alps. A colourful selection of outstanding Hungarian films will be in Focus at the festival.

Les Arcs European Film Festival kicks off on December 5 in the French ski resort. The newborn rendez-vous, which is organized in an unusual location, will dedicate its Focus program to the Hungarian cinema.

The festival organisers invited István Szabó to be head of the international jury. There will be a retrospective of the world famous Hungarian director’s movies at the festival, with screenings among others of his Oscar-winner Mephisto, Colonel Redl, Sunshine and Being Julia.
The new generation of Hungarian directors will also get special attention this year. Successful films such as Benedek Fliegauf’s Dealer, György Pálfi’s Taxidermia, Szabolcs Hajdu’s White Palms, Csaba Bollók’s Iska’ Journey, Attila Gigor’s The Investigator and Kornél Mundruczó’s Delta will be screened. Bálint Kenyeres’ and László Nemes’ prize-winner shorts will be also part of the Focus Hungary program.
Les Arcs European Film Festival wishes to attract not only the moviegoers to the French Alps, but film producers with their projects as well, offering a wide range of considerable professional programs. Four Hungarian film projects has been invited by the Co-Production Village. New feature film projects by Bálint Kenyeres, Réka Kincses, György Pálfi and Attila Gigor will be pitched at the three-day co-production market in Les Arcs.
