October 23rd in 1956. The day which for a long time was referred to simply as ”fifty-six”. Altogether 130 drama students attended the Hungarian College of Drama and Film Art in 1956. We looked up some of them so they can tell, so we can tell: how it happened to us… Not everyone was willing to speak.
Some don’t remember. Some don’t want to remember. However, they are and we are all in those newsreels. How was it in reality? Do you remember? Do we remember? Haven’t time, forced forgetfulness, inhibitions, shame, and hopelessness marred these memories? Do we still know how it all happened, how a revolution broke out? Before we all disappear, we must say what really happened. That day was ours.
”That Day Was Ours.”
