Petra Szőcs’s THE EXECUTION will compete for the Short Film Palme d'or, while György Mór Kárpáti’s graduation film, PROVINCIA will be shocased in Cinéfondation at the 67th Festival de Cannes beginning 14 May.
Nine films including Petra Szőcs’s The Execution (Hu/Ro) will compete for the Short Film Palme d'or, to be awarded by Abbas Kiarostami, President of the Jury, at the Awards Ceremony of the 67th Festival de Cannes on Saturday, 24 May. This year, the Selection Committee received 3,450 short films, representing 128 production countries.

Created in 1998 and devoted to the search for new talent, the Cinéfondation selected 16 films out of the 1,631 submitted graduation works by film schools from all around the world. The Festival's section dedicated to student films will showcase György Mór Kárpáti’s dilpoma film.

Ottó works as a conveyor for a food store in Budapest. When his van breaks down during a countryside delivery, he finds himself on an archaeological excavation site.
Ottó spends one day on the excavation.
The three Cinéfondation Prizes will be awarded at a ceremony prior to the screening of the winning films on Thursday, 22 May in the Buñuel Theatre.
