Hungarian film week to open with Dallas Pashamende (Screendaily)

The 36th edition of the Hungarian Film Week will kick off on February 2 with the screening of director Robert Pejo’s Berlinale Forum contender Dallas Pashamende.

The Film Week’s competition program will feature twenty-one Hungarian productions, ten of which have already been released theatrically in the country. The remaining eleven will be premieres.

The program includes Marta Meszaros’ The Unburied Dead, Attila Arpa’s local hit Argo as well as new films from Peter Timar, Andras Szoke, Attila Mispal, Zsombor Dyga and Jozsef Pacskovszky. World renowned DoP Elemer Ragalyi’s directorial debut Csudafilm will also feature in the competition program.

Another DoP turned director will also have his first feature premiere at the Hungarian Film Week, Lajos Koltai’s Fateless based on Imre Kertesz’s Nobel-prize winning novel of the same name, will close the event on February 8.

Istvan Szabo’s Being Julia will feature in the festival’s informative section.

Forty-two documentaries will also be presented February 1-3 as well as twenty-six shorts and ten experimental productions.
