a_vaagyakozaasThe 64th Edinburgh IFF hosts the UK premiere of József Pacskovszky's THE DAYS OF DESIRE. Sándor Csukás' directorial debut, BIRTHDAY enriches the short film program of Scotland's high-profile cinematic event.

UK movie fans will get the chance to see the finest of world cinema alongside the brand new British film production at this year's Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF). Film festival staff watched 1,500 feature films and 2,000 short films to put together this year's line-up.

The 64th edition, which runs from June 16-27, hosts the UK premiere of József Pacskovszky’s latest feature of Desire. The Hungarian-French coproduction was premiered at Cairo competition last year, festival acknowledgments includes Hungarian Film Week’s Best Screenplay and Wisebaden Best Director prizes.
Edinburgh shows the Pacskovszky movie as part of Director’s Showcase programming the "classics of the future, from the established international auteurs of our time".

Anna, a mute teenager, takes a job as housekeeper to a wealthy but unhappy couple, who quickly install her as the heart of their fractured household. All three glimpse the possibility of redemption – but when Anna falls in love, the idyll is threatened, and tensions invade. Ravishingly shot in black and white, this is a compelling, mysterious character study, in the rich tradition of Bela Tarr.
